2001 a Space Odyssey

So over the years I have had a slight fascination with this movie. The story has intrigued me mostly because there are like a million parodies in television and movies. I just feel like I am missing something. It is considered a classic and blah blah blah.
I tried watching it after I graduated from high school. I felt completely lost. So I gave up. A few years ago I found the screenplay online and I thought hey maybe this will clarify and help me understand the story better. (I really didn't understand how neanderthals, large blank dominoes and Hal were all connected.)
I was even more confused. So in a final attempt I am going to read the novel. And if it makes sense I am going to re watch the movie. (This time from beginning to end:) Also I found out that this is a series of novels. So if I like it I will read those also.

Ok so I finished it and I really liked it. Finally I get the movie! I am looking forward to watching it again. I am also starting the 2nd book in the series today! I really recommend it, It was super easy to read and easy to understand. It is also a very interesting take on how humans came to be the way we are.

Book of Life

I have always enjoyed Egyptian art. I especially like the hieroglyphics. I can visualize the artist creating. I can also see mistakes and things that the artist may have not been to satisfied with. Really that is where I connect, I see flaws that reflect my own inadequacies and strengths.
That said, I had an opportunity to create some Egyptian artwork. The artwork I created was as an example for a project. The students were to create 8 images from there life and then create their own form of hieroglyphics to explain what is happening in the images. It was a lot of fun to make.
My favorite image is the one on the bottom left corner. I just love it! I also really enjoy the one in the center. It really make me smile:)

I would have had a fun job had I lived then;)

  • Justin got a sweet pair of winter hiking boots and some sweet records.
  • I got a sewing machine and some sweet records.
  • We got to go tubing. We also go to go on a sweet winter hike.
  • We had a low key New Years this year. We ate dinner with Justin's brother and watched a movie.
  • We enjoyed the time off from school and work and Justin taught me how to play cribbage and we both were able to read a lot.

Happy New Year

So it is once again time for New Years Resolutions. I have been thinking about those and I have decided on a few:
  • Exercise. I totally burnt myself out last year. And when it got colder I stopped exercising altogether. This year I have a plan and I am not going to over do it.
  • Eat Healthier. Try and cut out snacking on junk and make healthier choices at family activities. Also cooking healthier food.
  • Clean everyday. I got tiered this last year of spending  hours every Saturday cleaning.  So this year I will do at least wash one load of dishes at night and straighten up before going to bed at.
  • Bake Bread. I really would like to do this more often.
  • Use my Cookbooks. I have a bunch of cookbooks some of which I have never used.
I hope everyone has a GREAT New Year!!!!

Track Meet This Weekend!!!!

Justin's first indoor track meet is on Saturday.
The meet is a BYU's indoor track. And Justin will start running at 1:00 p.m.
It should be very exciting and FUN! Please come if you can and show your support for UVU!
The meet is in the Smith Fieldhouse, The best way to get there is to go to the Brick Oven on 800 North in Provo, then turn left on 150 east. You will pass the tennis courts and the soccer field. The building is on the right side. I don't know how full the parking lot will be so you may need to park by the Brick Oven.
