The Job Hunt Comes to an End and Apartment Season is Open

Justin found a job! He is working for UPS!!!
Yay for the men in the brown shirts and socks! So, that stress is out of my life, and now for a new stress, where to live?
We have seen some nice apartments we can not afford, some scary crap holes no one should live in, and a few places we liked. It hit me today at my dr. appointment that I only have a few weeks until my due date. That is nutty! Ideally we would find a place this week and move in next week. That way I have a little time to set up house.
If you know of any nice 2 bedroom places in the Orem area for rent let us know!

Feeling Hot Hot Hot!

Is it just me or did it feel like a million degrees by 10 o'clock today in Orem. I really want a pool for days like this. Just take a floatie out splash around and keep cool. Also, air conditioning is like the best invention ever. Three cheers for Air Conditioning!!!!

Play time at Anderson Park in Pleasant Grove

We attempted to take the boys to Huck Finn Days, but when we got there there were a crap ton of people and long lines for all the fun activities. Rather than suffer through all that we took them up the street a little ways to Anderson Park. It was nice and quiet with a few other children. The Boys ran around, played Pooh sticks and had a snack. They also liked walking the fun little wilderness trails and running through the dry creek bed.

Cake Wreck

This is what the Ice Cream cake I made for my brothers birthday looked like. Pretty terrible. I felt lazy and pregnant so I decided to use a cake mix. Bad Idea, I think I may have mixed the cake to much because the cake turned out very dry and crumbled. Thankfully my sister was there to help me pick up the pieces and construct a cake mound. Next time I will make the cake from scratch so it is more dense and tastes better. It was a good thing that it was an Ice cream cake as well because freezing it held the cake together, for presentation at least. It totally fell apart when I started to serve it.

Scottish Festival and Free Pool Day!

We went to the Scottish Festival with my brothers and a few of their friends.

We found a great place to watch the bagpipes play in the shade.

We bought some tasty home made root beer and cream soda. Felix really really liked it.

Justin e-mailed me some images of orchids this morning. They were awesome. But this one, oh man. I am in love with it. I really want it sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo badly. I really really really like it a lot. I think I am in love with this flower. Ah I almost want to buy it right now, but I need to resist the temptation...

Pizza!

Well the pizza turned out great. I was super happy with the crust!!!!
Here is the recipe I used:
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons yeast
1 1/2 cups of luke warm water
mix together in a small bowl and let sit until yeast begins to activate. (it will look frothy)
meanwhile mix together:
3-4 cups of flour
3 table spoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt

Pour in water and yeast mixture into your flour mixture. (I added more water and made my dough really sticky.)Then dump out dough onto a floured surface and kneed in flour. I added about 1/4 of a cup of flour. The dough should be firm but feel moist at the same time. Almost like playdough.... Anyways, place your dough in a greased bowl. (I used Pam. and make sure you also spray the top of your pizza dough) Put a wet towel over the top of the bowl and let the dough rise for about an hour or until the dough has doubled in size. Once it has doubled in size punch down the dough and split the dough into two halves. place the half you will be working with on a lightly floured surface and roll out in a round pizza shape. Add your favorite sauce cheese and toppings and cook in the oven. I usually cook the pizza at about 350. It will make two 12 inch pizza's.
This also makes killer garlic bread sticks as well!

Silly Katie

I have been packing today I am about 90% finished. Yeah!
I got really excited a little while ago because I am going to make pizza. So I walked into the room to get my recipe to find I had packed it. (oh man I was bummed)
Then I remembered that I posted the Pizza dough recipe on the blog. (yeah!) And after a little bit of looking I found it. And upon reading it I found I forgot to write down how much salt goes into the crust. (boo) So, I am improvising an adding 1 teaspoon. It sounds like the right amount, I think.
I just hope it is not to salty turning dinner into a disaster...

Life is hard

I will be making my return trip to Utah this week. I am very sad to leave California. I have had a wonderful time here but in a few months I will be having a baby so I need to be back in Utah. So I am spending time packing things up doing laundry and generally making sure that when the time comes it will be easy and quick to move our things from California to where ever we will end up in Utah. Justin is still looking for a job, no luck yet, but I am continuing to remain positive and hopeful that one will come along soon. As it is I will be with my parents waiting to have a baby and enjoy my time with them. Keep your fingers crossed, pray, wish on a star that Justin will find a job soon.

Project Finished!

I am so excited. Yesterday I finished the growth board!!!! It turned out really good. There are a few things I would do differently next time, but I am very satisfied with the results.

This series of pictures demonstares kind of a step by step on how I did some of the more detailed characters.

So this is what it looks like done. It is hard to get everything in one picture so I guess you will just have to come out and visit to see it up close.

Oh, and I did finish squirt. He also turned out really really good.

I threw it on the ground.

Today I was eating a salad. Felix came over and was very curious about what I was eating. So, I gave him a little of it. As soon as the cabbage touched his tongue he spit it out and then proceeded to stomp on it. He then made a sour face, wiped his tongue off and walked away.
