Ah, man My first full day this week.

I have just been feeling gross and sick lately.
Anyways I just wanted to say how grateful I am to work with people who are concerned about my health. It is super nice to be at work not feeling well and have someone come in and say" Oh Katie you don't look well. I will cover for you go ahead and go home." Oh man, it makes me so happy!

Flower explosion! And Wolverine Awards!

I am happy All of our Tulips have bloomed. They are a beautiful bright red!
We also finally had some of our smaller tulips bloom. We have a few small yellow ones, and a sweet red and yellow striped one! We have aluims coming up! I am very excited to see the flowers.
This last week Justin planted a ton of lilies and a few dahlias! I am very excited to see them all this summer. Also last night we found out that Justin couldn't take out the huge nasty bushes on the side yard. Oh well. Oh and we also found out that there is a ton of mint growing in the ditch. So I will transplant some to the backyard! Yeah I love mint as a garnish!
I am constantly surprised at everything I have found. Oh and there is a very pretty daffodil growing out in the yard too.

Sad news. So the patch of dead grass with all the flowers in it, with all the flowers I was looking forward to blomming, well our land lord decided to put sod over the top. (because most of the grass had died.)
AHHH it explains so much about this property...
So I lost all of those growing flowers. And he also put sod over a rose that was growing back....
Something about the sod. It is not even. So I have a large patch work of sod on the side yard. Justin is not to happy about how it looks.

Well with being sick my house has suffered. So this week I will clean little by little and retake the house. The kitchen scares me. Hopefully since Justin didn't go to class today he will have a little time to clean :) He did mow the lawn yesterday. It looks very nice.

Last night we went to the Wolverine Awards Show and Dinner. It was mildly fun. Much better than we both expected. They did a good job of mixing light entertainment and the actual awards. Justin got a certificate for being smart! Yeah!!
The food....
There were good things and bad things.
  • The salad: It was a sad small salad. Like a child size handful of spinach, 2 rings of onion and 2 mandarin oranges. The salad dressing was very good and made everything taste wonderful.
  • The Rolls: they were rationed out 1 per person. Seriously. They were a very good hard roll. At least I hope they were meant to be like french bread. If not..... I fear they were stale, stale, stale.
  • Main course: It was good, the chicken tasted great and was grilled very nicely. But, it was one of the smallest chicken breasts ever to be cooked. The rice was good. And a good portion. They had a good mix of veggies and they tasted very good, but each plate was rationed 5-8 pieces of broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, or squash.
  • Desert: Chocolate Mouse. It was very good. The desert was sitting out the whole time temping you to eat it as soon as you sat down.
All in all a good meal, everything was cooked great, and tasted great too.
But portions...
This was not a Weight Watchers convention.

Spring break Snaffu

So I had a miserable spring break. Sick all week, oh and I am still sick.
What I did get done:
  • Weeded
  • Cleaned house
  • de-oderized the carpets
  • worked on scrap book ( I didn't get one page done...)
  • Made tie back thingys for bedroom curtains ( I still need to finish them.)
  • I walked on Monday and Wednesday
Pretty sad...
Ah well there is always the weekend and the summer right!?

All Quiet on the testing front

So it is really quiet right now. A little tooo quiet in testing.

I was able to finish my filing for the week. And that never happens on a Friday.

Maybe everyone took an early spring break.

mmmm... Probably not.

Really the students are probably frantically working in the labs.
And any minute now I will get slammed.

Also I am not looking forward to 2 :15 today, that is when High school gets out.
At that time please pray for us here at East Shore. Pray that we will have patience, and serenity while we work.

Green Garden

Yesterday Justin showed me some new things in our garden:
  • Lilies growing under our unkempt bushes. (which an hour later were taken under control! So hopefully the lilies will flourish this year.)
  • What plant the aliums are. And we have a ton of them!!! I am very excited!
  • A small area of our back yard is covered in these pretty little purple flowers.
  • the cacti and a few bulbs growing on the weird rock scuplture thing. I am very excited about 1 plant in particular. I want to move it to the front flower bed.
  • The red hot fire pokers that we threw out into the grass are continuing to grow.
  • Our Tulips are about ready to burst with color!
  • The ground roses are beginning to propagate quite nicely.
I am excited! And I can't wait to plant more!

School

"Let me get this straight, you are ditching school to make up classes that you ditched?
Won't you have to make up the class you are missing?"

Sometimes I love working at a school :)

Hamburgers and Rat kisses

Lately Justin has been craving Hamburgers.
No Joke, since Friday we have had Hamburgers 4 times. He is just really craving them. which is odd because he does not normally crave meat. So I recommend Fudruckers if you are craving burgers with a 50's feel. Also the one in Orem is not to crowded, so if you don't like having to shout to have a conversation. (I did not like that about Red Robbin. Also never ending fries my butt! I have never had them bring me more fries, even if I have asked.)
This has been an odd dietary change for us. If we have burgers again, I am having the chicken or a salad ;) Even though I really enjoy burgers.

Last night Justin was doing homework and I was playing with the rats. Well, really I was holding them and letting them climb around. (that is how we play) I was wanting to read, so I thought, "Cool, they can run around on the bed and play together while I read and watch them. " It was fun. Everytime they tried to climb off the bed I snaped my fingers or clapped and they quickly turned around. I hope that means that they are learning. Also while I was reading they crawled onto my sholders to see what I was doing, or, I was holding something that smelled good and they came to investigate it. Either way they crawled up to the book and were sniffing it. It was super cute and reminded me of the mice reading instructions on how to make a dress for Cinderella, untill they decided to taste the book. Then I lifted the book up to keep them away and they crawled right under the sheets! They prompty started exploreing this new world and found my feet. And started tickleing them. So I quickly pulled my leggs up to my chest, only to find that they had followed my feet and had then continued tickleing. Justin came in a few min later to see what was happening and the rats actually let us pet them for more that 2 seconds, long enough that Magellan fell asleep! They were super cute last night.

Resolutions Update

Resolutions Update

So I thought it would be good to update how I am doing with my new years resolutions. Lets see how I am doing...
  • Exercise. I am feeling really good. I ran a 5k. and did better than I expected. I also ran 2 miles in under 20 min. this month. I feel great but I am not seeing results yet....
  • Eat Healthier. (I haven't really changed much. I have been using less salt and butter in things. And Making sure I buy fresh veggies.)
  • Clean everyday. I am still doing good with it! The rats mixed things up a bit and a few days suffered. But I am now back in the swing of things. I even had time to do my nails last night.
  • Bake Bread. Justin made bread at the beginning of the month. It was good. Not sweet enough and it got a little burned around the edges. We have not needed to make more yet. We probably next month. We will also be using a new recipe.
  • Use my Cookbooks.I have not done a great job. I read a little bit about eggs at the beginning of the month and that was it. I need improvement.
